Equipment Type Standardization

There are a variety of container sizes and heights your team and your stakeholders may use for shipping. We’ve taken all the different terms SSLs may use to identify container size and type, and standardized it in one easy-to-read, easy-to-use format.

With our latest release, instead of the equipment type being shown as a string of text, OpenTrack now can identify ISO codes to give you set options for container size and container type. Knowing the size and type of each of your containers can be helpful to better manage dray and chassis operations, manage booking and routings, and evaluate your supply chain performance.

Container Size

There are 2 standard lengths you may see for your containers. These include:

  • 40' containers

  • 20' containers

Along with your container length, container height will be displayed like this:

  • High Cube

  • Standard

OpenTrack will also display any nonstandard sizes if you are shipping these containers, but this is a very rare occurrence.

Container Type

Along with container size, equipment will be filterable by container type. Easily understand if you are tracking a dry bulk, refrigerated, or other type of container using this field. The most common container type is DRY, but OpenTrack will display all the following container types:

  • DRY: General Purpose Container without Ventilation

  • VENTILATED: General Purpose Container with Ventilation

  • BULK: Dry Bulk Container

  • SPECIAL: Named Cargo and Non-Cargo Carrying Container

  • REEFER: Thermal Container

  • FLAT RACK: Foldable Container

  • OPEN: Open-Top Container

  • TANK: Tank Container

These two new fields can be added as selected fields to all of your reports to give you and your team and in depth look into the specifics of each of your tracked containers.
