Can we track exports or international shipments with OpenTrack?
Yes! Now you can use OpenTrack to keep on top of your exports and international moves. Specifically, you can now track:
Exports: Shipments from North America to anywhere else in the world.
International: Shipments between any two locations in the world, not in North America.
What data is included?
You'll receive all the same milestones as with Imports, but for North American Exports you'll also see the following:
Receiving Windows (Early Return and Cutoff Dates)
Document Cutoff
Rail Cutoff
Vessel ETD

How do we get started?
Step 1: Tell us you're interested.
If you use the web app primarily, your process is easy. If you have an integration, we'll discuss the next steps appropriate to your setup.
Step 2: We will enable your account to track exports or international shipments.
We'll flip the switch so that you can start tracking non-import shipments.
Step 3: Log in and start tracking.
You will now be able to track exports and international shipments in addition to imports within your OpenTrack account.
What do we need to know before we start?
You can track by booking number instead of MBL. Here's the list of ocean carriers that support booking number tracking on OpenTrack.
If you have a Master Bill of Lading, track with that first. If you don't have the Master Bill, try using the booking number. For most steamship lines (but not all), you can track shipments in OpenTrack using the booking number. Here is the list of ocean carriers where OpenTrack currently supports tracking by booking number:
ANL
APL
CMA
COSCO
CU Lines
Hamburg Sud
Hapag-Lloyd
HMM
Matson
MSC
ONE
OOCL
SM Line
Turkon
Wan Hai
Westwood Shipping Lines
Yang Ming
As you can see, it's more limited than our full list of supported ocean carriers.
Here's how to track using the booking number.
Put the booking number wherever you usually put the Master Bill of Lading. However, you need to specify the ocean carrier SCAC code separately (and not as a prefix to the booking number).
If you add the booking number via the Start Tracking page, you need to select a carrier from the dropdown list.
If you add the booking number via Bulk CSV Upload, you need to specify the SCAC in a separate column of your spreadsheet.
If you add the booking number via API, you need to specify SCAC in the corresponding attribute in the POST request.
We report North American rail data, but limited rail data outside of North America.
We are only integrated with North American rail lines for the moment, so expect non-North American rail tracking to be limited. For exports, you will only be able to see rail milestones that occur before the shipment reaches the port of loading in North America (origin rail).
โ
We have limited reporting of Availability, Holds, LFD and other terminal data for non-North American ports.
OpenTrack is only integrated with terminals in North America, so you will see more limited Availability, Last Free Day, Holds, and Demurrage data at foreign ports.
โ
We may have more limited Rail ETA data for exports or international shipments.
This is due to our more limited rail integrations as mentioned above. However, we will still report ETA to POD as well as Rail ETA when it's reported by the ocean carrier.
