Stop Tracking a Shipment

Learn how to stop tracking shipments before containers are discovered.

Updated over a week ago

In some cases, you may want to remove a shipment that was added for tracking before OpenTrack has discovered the associated containers.

OpenTrack allows you to stop tracking Master Bills that are still pending discovery.

When You Can Stop Tracking

You can stop tracking a shipment only while the Master Bill is still pending tracking results.

This means OpenTrack has not yet discovered any containers associated with that Master Bill. We consider these MBLs to be in "LOCATING" status.

How to Stop Tracking a Locating MBL

Step 1

Navigate to the Start Tracking page in the OpenTrack dashboard.

Step 2

Search for the Master Bill that is still pending discovery.

Step 3

Click the Remove icon to the far right of the Master Bill line.

Step 4

Confirm Stop Tracking when prompted.

Once confirmed, the Master Bill and any associated containers will be removed from your account.

When Shipments Cannot Be Removed

If OpenTrack has already discovered containers associated with the Master Bill, the shipment cannot be deleted.

At that point, OpenTrack has already performed tracking and the shipment will count toward your usage.
