When something goes wrong with a shipment, it can be difficult to understand exactly what happened — and even harder to dispute extra charges with your carrier. To make this easier, OpenTrack now gives you a complete history of key data changes and shipment events right inside the container detail panel.

In the History tab, you can see not just the actual events reported by the terminal or carrier, but also:

  • Estimated future milestones like ETAs and ETDs

  • Planned events like Last Free Day (LFD) dates

  • Changes to the ETA/LFD and when these changes occurred

This lets you:

  • Compare what was supposed to happen vs. what actually happened

  • Spot when Last Free Day dates shift (and by how much)

  • See both Line-reported LFDs and Terminal- or Rail-reported LFDs in one place

  • Build evidence for carrier disputes (e.g. demurrage charges)

How to Use the History Tab

  1. Open a container from your dashboard.

  2. Go to the History tab in the container detail panel.

  3. You’ll see a timeline of key events, including milestones like Available, Full Outgated, and planned dates like Last Free Day.

  4. Use the toggles at the top to choose which event types you want to see:

    • Planned – shows Last Free Day as reported (can differ by Line vs. Terminal or Rail)

    • Changes – highlights changes to ETA and LFD over time

    • Actual – confirmed milestone updates (e.g. Available, Full Outgated)

    • Estimated – future milestones like ETAs and ETDs

Example: Investigating a Charge

Imagine your carrier billed you for storage, claiming your container wasn’t picked up on time. In the History tab, you can:

  • Check the Available date and every reported Last Free Day (Line vs. Terminal)

  • See if and when the Last Free Day changed

  • Compare against the Full Outgated time

  • Export or screenshot the timeline to support your dispute

Why This Matters

Instead of piecing together updates from multiple sources, you now get a single, authoritative history of each container. This transparency helps you resolve disputes faster, avoid unnecessary costs, and continuously improve your supply chain.

Plus, the usage of Planned, Estimated, Actual, and Changes events follows the DCSA standard and builds on it, ensuring that events are understandable across different organizations and systems.

⚠️ Note: Planned and Changes views are currently in Beta. We’re actively refining how these appear, and your feedback will help shape the final version.
